Most of Saturday will bring southern lower MI mostly rain, however freezing rain may creep southward, especially in the afternoon.
Meteorologists say the change to freezing rain could be delayed until later in the day Saturday.
Saturday and Sunday Environment Canada is warning of a slow moving system bringing rain to start but colder air will change that to freezing rain or ice pellets. Some uncertainty exists as to the time the precipitation switches over to rain on Sunday.
Moisture will move in from the south causing rain showers to freeze on contact with the ground.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for portions of southern MI from the thumb and the Saginaw Valley north from Saturday moring through Sunday morning.
"Any freezing rain should be fairly brief near the Highway 401 corridor, but may persist for a couple of hours for regions farther north and especially over higher terrain".
