SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, May 5 (Xinhua) - A gunfight between militants and Indian troops broke out Saturday in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.
CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Tabela Chattabal in Safakadal following inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said. The army had deployed drones to search for the militants in the forest areas.
SSP further said that during the cordon some gunshots came from suspected spot.
"During a CASO at Chattabal, some exchange of fire was reported".

The official said the militants fired on a search team of security forces, who retaliated, triggering the gunfight.
An assistant commandant of the CRPF was injured during the initial firefight.
The puppet authorities have snapped internet services in Srinagar to prevent people from sharing information about the situation in Chattabal.
