Studio Warner Bros. has released its first trailer for Mowgli - Serkis' decidedly downbeat version of "The Jungle Book". Check out the Mowgli trailer in the player below along with a behind-the-scene featurette for the film!
Say what you will about the necessity (the bare necessity, even) of another take on The Jungle Book coming out so quickly, but Serkis managed to pull together a hell of a cast here. The film explores Mowgli's story under the dark glass wherein the character is in danger and meets humans for the first time.
"There is no singing and dancing by the animals that is for sure". Those creatures are portrayed in painstaking detail thanks to motion-capture performances from some high-profile humans, including Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Naomie Harris, and Serkis himself. Rohan Chand plays the role of Mowgli in this one, which also has Freida Pinto. His incredible work as Caesar in The Planet of the Apes trilogy is enough to prove he's a master at motion capture.
Interactions between him and black panther Bagheera (Bale) and tiger Shere Khan (Cumberbatch) are featured in the clip.
The trailer for Mowgli, revealed Monday, takes a dark twist on the story of a young boy raised in the jungle with the help of a star-studded cast. I mean, you know, the Framestore, who did the visual effects on this, have really made an incredible contribution to the movie.
Syrian army declares capital Damascus "completely secure"
Takfiri terrorists have lost much of the territory they once held in Syria amid sweeping gains by government forces on the ground. The refugee camp, which once housed a large number of Palestinians, has been contested repeatedly since the Syrian War began.
It's still unlikely that this film will hit the heights of its more established Disney story, but it will be nice to finally get a different take on the popular fiction on movie screens.
Serkis's creative filmmaking team includes director of photography Michael Seresin ("War for the Planet of the Apes"), production designer Gary Freeman ("Tomb Raider") and editors Mark Sanger (Oscar victor, "Gravity"), Alex Marquez ("Snowden") and Jeremiah O'Driscoll ("Flight").
Mowgli will release on 19 Oct 2018 and stars Rohan Chand in the lead.
