"She was just the best mother and the nicest person, if you walked into her she always had a attractive word to say and would stop to chat or grab a coffee if she had time", she said.
Katrina's four children - Taye, Ryan, Ayre and Kadyn Cockman - were aged between eight and 13. It's understood all four kids had autism.
Ms Miles home-schooled her three sons and her daughter, who were all thought to have autism, at the farm, which is owned by her parents, Cynda and Peter Miles.
Miles also had been lining up farm maintenance work with a neighbour in Osmington, and was scheduled to meet up with him on Saturday morning at 10am.
The police have yet to publicly identify the victims.
Mr Dawson described the discovery as "devastating".
He added: 'The loss of any life is tragic, but four children and three adults, this is a significant tragedy'.
He refused to confirm if police believed the 61-year-old was the shooter, only saying the investigation at the scene would take several more days.
"We are devastated by this shocking event".
The victims appear to have died from gunshot wounds.

Some students and staff members said they were initially were concerned that they might be facing a mass shooting situation. No further details have been released, and police would not confirm if there was actually a person with a gun on campus.

"It's surreal that this is happening here in our handsome little community".

Dawson say police have no information to raise concerns about the wider public safety.

In a statement, West Australian Police said officers were expected to remain at the home for "an extended period of time".
After being alerted by a phone call before dawn, police found the bodies and two guns at the property. Dawson has confirmed it was a male caller. Police are in contact with the children's estranged father, Aaron Cockman.
