The stakes certainly appear to be high as Spider-Man struggles to overthrow his rogue's gallery as the trailer ends on a delicious cliffhanger.
This year was different, and Sony Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden forewarned us that it would instead hinge around four long "deep dives" into Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part 2, Spider-Man and Ghost of Tsushima. The initial teaser left many fans scratching their heads, particularly at the lack of showing Venom in his full glory and had many anxious that the film itself will not feature the chaotic character enough to satisfy the audience - similar to how Topher Grace's take on the character was underutilized in Spider-Man 3.
You can check out the full trailer below and then jump into our analysis, discussion, and predictions of what's really going on here. Between moves like web swings, wall runs and fast web zips, there are a ton of movement mechanics to sink your teeth into, and I'm looking forward to spending hours honing my swinging skills in order to traverse NY with maximum momentum. New Spider-Man Gameplay Trailer Brings the Baddies
Continuing through the trailer we pick up a ally and infiltrate a building rescuing a prisoner from torture, eventually we end up fighting the ally and throughout that fight we get an wonderful display of combat and scenery. Spider-Man also has a healthy arsenal of gadgets (once again, much like Arkham), including web mines and web bombs that explode on impact.
Based on the footage that was shown, we feel that the game's combat is going to be paced similar to what we've seen in games like God of War, but the boss battle nearly resembled more of a fighting game. It seems that Insomniac may have changed its mind about Spidey automatically preventing that from happening. For that matter, it didn't give any kind of hint about when we might expect the game to release.
Marvel's Spider-Man features your favorite web-slinger in a story unlike any before it. These days, the de facto Ultimate Spider-Man is Miles Morales, who was recently recruited into Leonardo da Vinci's new S.H.I.E.L.D. team. This is an experienced Peter Parker who's more masterful at fighting big crime in New York City.
