The German sports apparel giant said early results of its investigation showed that the exposed data could include contact information, website usernames and passwords. Orbitz had announced a breach that exposed around 880,000 credit cards while Panera left millions of its customers' records exposed on its site.
The data that could have been impacted includes contact information, like addresses and email addresses, as well as login information, but not financial or fitness information.
Adidas immediately launched an investigation into the incident, the company said, in order to assess the scope of the breach and alert those who potentially were affected.
Adidas revealed that the data breach occurred on June 26 with an unauthorized party managed to acquire information on millions of sportswear brand's customers from the USA website.

As Bloomberg reports, Adidas discovered "an unauthorized party" had gained access to its servers and stolen data on June 26. While the company did not reveal the exact number of users that have been affected by the breach, news outlets report the number to be a few million from the United States. "Adidas is working with leading data security firms and law enforcement authorities to investigate the issue", an Adidas spokeswoman told Business Insider. Most recently, Delta Airlines reported a cyber attack that released the payment information for thousands of customers. "While adidas continues its thorough forensic review, Adidas is alerting relevant consumers".
"Adidas is committed to the privacy and security of its consumers' personal data", the company's statement read.
According to fashion brand Adidas, "a few million" consumers might be affected by a recent data breach in their company.
