The employee, identified as Frank Ragin, allegedly made a gesture toward Jones around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10.
However, it's Ragin who ends up getting knocked over with a punch from Jones and the fight is broken up shortly after. He was charged him with two counts of battery and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries, the newspaper reported. Jones and his companion refused medical treatment.
Police arrested Ragin for starting the fight, having determined that Jones only fought in self defense, TMZ reports.
Jones, who fought back after some initial hesitation, told the woman to "watch out" before punching Ragin.
Cops sided with National Football League free agent Adam "Pacman" Jones after a brawl. Jones is accompanied by a woman in a yellow jacket.
Paul Manafort says he's being treated like a "VIP" in jail
He also has a personal laptop, they say, with an extension cord so he can use it in his unit and not just the workroom. Last week, Manafort's lawyers complained that he has to spend 23 hours in solitary confinement in the unit.
TMZ Sports obtained the video, which shows the airport employee verbally accosting and then physically attacking Jones.
While he wasn't adjudged to be the guilty party in this particular incident, Jones does have a checkered history when it comes to off the field issues over the course of his career.
He has also played for the Dallas Cowboys and recently ended an eight-year stint with the Cincinnati Bengals, during which time his run-ins with the law decreased significantly.
Jones has yet to be signed to a contract for the upcoming season, and it remains to be seen if his latest run in with trouble will deter teams from signing him. In 2014, he was named First-team All-Pro and in 2015 he made his only Pro Bowl appearance.
