The north London side are now preparing for their first season under Unai Emery following his appointment at The Emirates as Arsene Wenger's successor back in May. "If we are good and consistent like last season then we have a good chance".
Emery praised City boss Guardiola, whom he faced at Barcelona while coaching Almeria and Valenca, saying: "His career as a player is bigger than mine and his career as a coach is also bigger than mine".
Whereas Wenger's principal coaching ethos was giving his players the freedom to express, develop and essentially improve themselves, Emery believes this process will happen far more quickly if he is at the wheel.
"We need two things: quality players, which we have, and then organisation". The same when we are thinking defensively, I want our strikers to be thinking: "We need to protect the goalkeepers".
"The match is going to give us the information [of what] is our level", he said.

Guice injured the knee on an impressive 34-yard run that was ultimately called back because of a holding penalty. The competition is now wide open after Guice's season-ending injury.
The Premier League gets underway this weekend after an 89 day absence and much emphasis will be on the game between Arsenal and Manchester City that takes place on Sunday afternoon. I want those two moments to feel the same for all players. His statistics are better than me. He makes it hard for teams to play against them and will play 4-2-3-1.
"For me, it's positive and his commitment is for me, to Arsenal, the most important".
Emery added: 'I knew the Kroenke family in Atlanta.
"I want leaders in the team - every player at every time to have the capacity to show leadership, but these are the five players who have the possibility to be captain". I want to do it one way with this personality, enjoying with our supporters.
