Tropical Storm Gordon saturated southern Florida with rain on Monday, September 3, and is expected to intensify as it heads into the Gulf. Tropical storm warnings were in effect from the Okaloosa-Walton County border west to east of Morgan City, Louisiana.
Also new with this update, a Hurricane Warning has been issued from the mouth of the Pearl River over to the Alabama-Florida border.
At about 15 miles west-southwest of Marco Island, FL., the tropical storm is heading west-northwest at 16 mph, with sustained winds of around 45 mph.
A hurricane watch remains in effects for portions of the central U.S. Gulf Coast as Tropical Storm Gordon approaches.
Until then, the tropical storm could cause unsafe storm surge, strong winds, and flash flooding along the Gulf Coast from the tip of Florida to eastern Texas.
The Florida Keys have already experienced the heavy rain and wind from the tropical storm.
People of Louisiana and Alabama are requested to remain safe as the water levels might rise by 5 feet throughout the region and also in the central parts of the Gulf coast.
Gordon should make landfall Tuesday night along or near the MS coast (see Fig. 4).
