On Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Elliott had the opportunity to meet her super fan from Rhode Island.
When Mary Halsey recorded a video of herself performing a cover of Missy Elliott's "Work It", she probably never thought this moment would actually happen. She revealed that she learned "Work It" in 2003 to compete in a karaoke competition then, and soon it became her go-to song. "Everybody wants to hear it".
Ellen, queen of orchestrating surprises for celebrity fans, invited Mary on her talk show this week to perform her favourite Missy jam and secretly had the hip-hop star waiting in the wings to surprise her.

The manager has them playing the wrong way for the fans. "No fun, no creativity", the Red Devils great told the Daily Mail . If they called me, I would go; I would enjoy it.
Missy Elliott met her long lost sister on Ellen - her funky white sister, that is. During the interview, she said of one day meeting Elliott, "I see it in my future". She freaked out, but quickly regained her composure and they finished the song together before embracing. But halfway through the song, everyone was in for a shock when Elliott herself joined Halsey onstage to finish it off. The reaction was so positive that she continued to perform the tune over the years. "So when I listen, I'm like, she knows all the words, but the sound effects-she made the elephant noise, all of that". This might just be the most pure video on the internet.
In the end, not only did Missy give Mary a signed T-shirt, but Ellen also gave her a jacket that had the words "Missy's Funky White Sister" emblazoned on the back.
