Ronaldo was shown red on his Champions League bow for Juventus after tussling with Valencia's Jeison Murillo and appearing to put his hand on the centre-back's head.
If found guilty by UEFA, he will miss the clash against Young Boys as well both matches against his former club Manchester United.
UEFA has the power to extend Ronaldo's ban if they deem his conduct to be violent.
Despite playing for more than an hour with 10 men, Juve were comfortable 2-0 winners at the Estadio Mestalla as Miralem Pjanic converted a pair of penalties either side of half-time.
"The only thing I can say is that VAR could have helped the referee make the right decision", said Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri, lamenting the lack of video technology in UEFA tournaments.
Oil prices fall amid surprise growth in US crude stocks
US crude was on track to end the week up 2.5 percent and Brent to post a 0.9 percent gain. Oil prices have been rising as supplies fall.
Speaking to DAZN sports streaming network, 24-year-old Can was quoted as saying: "I just found out it (the red card) was because he pulled Murillo´s hair".
Then he got a red card in his first Champions League game for Juventus.
"I don't know too many players who would receive a one-match ban after getting sent-off [with a straight red], it is going to be more than that". An increase would also rule him out of a return to Old Trafford to face former club Manchester United.
The outcome of disciplinary proceedings against Ronaldo will not be officially known until UEFA's control, ethics and disciplinary panel meets next Thursday. It was spotted by the additional assistant, standing behind the goal, who may have thought Ronaldo threw an elbow but that was not the case.
"I haven't seen the play which ended up in the red card".
