Steve Yzerman is stepping away from his role as general manager for the Lightning, according to multiple reports. Then-owner Mike Ilitch reportedly wanted to move Holland to an executive role to make room for Yzerman, but Holland declined the promotion.

Steve Yzerman is stepping down as general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning and will be replaced immediately by assistant Julien BriseBois, a person with knowledge of the move told The Associated Press on Tuesday. He has always been considered a future National Hockey League general manager. Yzerman's family has remained in Detroit, and he commuted during his time on the job.

Yzerman let players know in a meeting today that he'll be leaving the GM post but will be staying with the team as an advisor.

Regardless, this is a pretty stunning development in the hockey world given how well Yzerman has done in building a contender in Tampa. Detroit extended longtime GM Ken Holland, 62, for two more seasons in April, despite the team missing the playoffs for a second straight season, and he's going into his 22nd year on the job. Tampa has reached three conference finals and one Stanley Cup final since Yzerman became the general manager in 2010.

Yzerman won the NHL's General Manager of the Year Award in 2015 after the team went to the Cup final and lost to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Andhra Pradesh Government Announces Reduction in Petrol, Diesel Prices by Rs 2
Mumbai: As the prices of petrol and diesel are on a constant rise, Shiv Sena protested against the fuel price hike in Mumbai. In a span of one week, prices of petrol and diesel have gone up by Rs 1.65 a litre and Rs 1.92 a litre, respectively.

The Lightning finished atop the Atlantic division last season with a record of 54-23-5 for 113 points before falling to the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference final in seven games.

In the salary cap era, perhaps better than anyone, he's excelled at retaining top talent, such as captain Steven Stamkos, winger Nikita Kucherov and defenseman Victor Hedman, with team-friendly long-term deals.

"Over the course of the last couple of years, there's been moments to reflect on my situation", Yzerman said.

BriseBois, 41, had been an assistant to Yzerman since they joined the Lightning organization in 2010.
