A father in the U.S. has been slammed for the harsh punishment he dished out to his daughter after discovering she had been bullying another child.

WTVG reported that Swanton resident Matt Cox hopes the harsh lesson will stop his daughter from doing it again.

Sonia Kruger talks to Deb Knight about why she is luckier than most mums. "I am doing what I think is right to teach my daughter a lesson to stop her from bullying", Cox said in the viral video.

Mr Cox added that many children feel entitled to privileges like being taken to school in the morning by vehicle or bus.

"All of that is a privilege and should be treated as such".

According to Matt Cox, of Swanton, Ohio, his 10-year-old daughter was kicked off the school bus for the second time this school year for bullying.

In the video, you see his daughter walking along the side of the road.

The video of the father's punishment has garnered over 15m views on Facebook and thousands of comments.

"I, like numerous folks who commented on the video, would like to know more about the bullying, the origins".

"You teach your daughter to bully", one follower said. Riding the school bus or getting a lift from your parents is a privilege, he said during the video, and one his daughter had lost with her bad behavior.

Numerous 63,000 comments that have since popped up on his video have been positive, with parents of bullies and bullied alike thanking Mr Cox for his parenting. Follow Yahoo Lifestyle on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Kirsten said she'd been bullied herself, but the punishment - which was actually split up over multiple days, her father said - has taught her the lesson it intended.

However most praised the dad for his actions. "More parents should act like you". "Hats off to you Sir".

"I guarantee she got the idea it was okay from you".

"I see nothing wrong with this", says another. I hope that parents hold their kids accountable. That was me showing how I hold my kid accountable, ' Cox told WTVG-TV. It was broken up over the course of her three-day suspension.

Cox posted video of the punishment - and was swiftly met with the typical online cacophony of applause and boos.
