MLB veterans Jose Valbuena, 34, and Jose Castillo, 37, lost their lives in a auto crash after a playing in a Venezuela Professional Baseball League game.
Valbuena played 96 games for the Los Angeles Angels this year before being released in August. His best year came in 2016 when he batted.260 and slugged.459 while hitting 13 home runs and collecting 40 RBI for the Houston Astros. He played for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros and the Angels along the way.
He played mostly second base and third base. The driver, former major leaguer Carlos Rivero who played briefly with the Red Sox in 2004, survived the accident.
He was in the minor leagues in the United States as recently as 2017, playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks' Triple-A Reno affiliate.
