He didn't run away with the crown, though, as Drake was right behind him with seven nominations of his own. Fellow Black Panther song "King's Dead" was nominated for Best Rap Performance and Rap Song. Drake's frequent collaborator, producer Boi-1Da, earned six nods.
But the big news is the high number of women nominees, after being largely left out previous year.

R&B legend Toni Braxton walked away with three nods, including Best R&B Performance, Best R&B, Song and Best R&B Album for Sex and Cigarettes. Hip-hop artists also thrived.
